Ah, China!

So, China has unblocked Xanga at last!
Ha....now that I've actually paid money to get a website.
How funny.
I'm not sure that anyone really reads my website anyway.
But I'll probably just do my updates there because, well, I'm paying for it.
So read there and comment there, my lovely friends.
Please.

A Change....

You may have noticed an extreme lack of posts on my part.

Well, China has banned Xanga.

(so let's not talk about how I'm here right now)

Anyway, so in order to find a safe way to post things online, I've now decided to start my own website.

It should be up relatively soon (perhaps in a few days), so keep an eye out for it!

Bah.

I haven't updated in ages.
Sorry about that, folks.

Currently I'm in Diqin- a small place in Yunnan on the Tibet border.

It's cold here, but the mountains are lovely.
We left Zhongdian this morning.  Zhongdian was fantastic.

I've been trying to upload photos for days and days but the internet refuses to cooperate.
I'm getting frustrated.

Anyway, I hate to keep this so short, but I'm really not feeling like saying more at the moment.
I'm just getting irritated with the internet and computers as a whole.

Basically, I'm having a good time.

Sometimes the craziest things happen when you're out of the country.

Hmm.
People should keep me updated.  I haven't the slightest clue what's going on with so many people!

As for me, I have arrived safe and sound in Chengdu.  We flew in yesterday morning from Nanning.

We made one long stop before reaching the hotel......

Starbucks.

I know, right now some of you are utterly appalled.
But let me tell you, after six months of no coffee or terrible coffee, Starbucks is amazing.
I don't think that I realized how much I love coffee until I saw the place.  I would say that I almost cried, but that's taking it a bit too far.  I was incredibly pleased though, I'll certainly say that.

So now I'm in Chengdu for a bit, the land of pandas, spicy food, and spicy women.

Tomorrow I'll be seeing baby pandas, but I'm trying to avoid the spicy food and those spicy women.

Once the Amity conference is over, I'll be traveling for a few weeks, so I'll do my best to find internet bars to update in as I go.
We'll see what happens.

Sorry this update is so lame.
I really had meant to write more, but this place smells like smoke, motorbikes keep driving through this internet bar (?? I don't know.) and I just can't think of where to begin today.
Well, you'll be hearing from me again soon, I'm sure.

So......
Kate and I have bought taught aspects of western religions in our classes.
It's in the textbook, so we're supposed to do it.
On both of our final exams, one of the essay options is:
Tell the Christmas story.

Well, there has been a wide range of interesting answers to that one.
I thought that I'd just share two of them with you.

(*Don't look at these as an overall reflection of my teaching- out of my 280 students this term, only 4 failed)

Charistmas is the most magnificent festival of the year Western Countries.  Similar to China’s Spring Festival.  Westerners with red, green, and white color of Christmas.  Christmas comes to every household decorated with Christmas color.  Now, more and more Chinese childre are aware of the existence of Christmas.
According to “Bible”, God decided to let the students Vote his only song Jesus Christ on earth, to find his mother, then in human life.  So that people can better understand God, love God and to learn to better matual love.  As a Bible records Jesus was born at night, the traditional night of December 24 called “Christmas Eve”.  December 25 Christmas is the time to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ, founder of Christianity.
At the last, this is the story of Christmas.

Long long time ago, the earth no happy, no sing, no smile, and only just had sad, cry and howl.  Fight fire everywhere.  The god was very angry.  So he set up Christmas father and one deer came to earth for freedom human.  At last human freedom, you can lisen to happy music.  Saw the beautyful flowers.  In order missing to Christmas and thanks for god.  The people call 12.25 --- Christmas day!
